Gurgaon: Haryana has now become one of the top-performing states in India for GST revenue. According to recent government data, Haryana ranks fifth in GST collections, and Gurgaon alone contributes nearly 25% of the state's GST revenue. This strong performance shows Haryana's growing economy and improved tax compliance.
Haryana's net SGST collection has grown significantly over recent years. In 2018‑19, the state collected ₹18,910 crore, rising to ₹39,743 crore in 2024‑25 — a growth of 110%. At the national level, GST collections have also increased from ₹7.19 lakh crore in 2017‑18 to ₹22 lakh crore in 2024‑25. New GST rates, introduced recently, are also influencing these collections.
In 2024‑25, Haryana's total gross GST collection reached ₹1.19 lakh crore, a 16% growth compared to the previous year. The state's SGST revenue rose from ₹20,000 crore in 2023‑24 to ₹23,000 crore in 2024‑25, showing a growth of 14.4%.
The first quarter of 2025‑26 also shows strong results. SGST collection (including IGST settlement) reached ₹11,400 crore, compared to ₹9,000 crore in the same period last year — a growth rate of 17%. This reflects Haryana's steady improvement in GST revenue performance.
At a recent GST awareness programme, Haryana's Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh spoke about the state's strong position in GST collections. "Haryana is among the top states in the country for GST revenue, alongside Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu. The excise and taxation department contributes over 80% of Haryana's revenue through SGST, excise duty, and VAT," Singh said.
The minister also explained the impact of recent GST reforms. "There were demands to improve this major tax system. Following the Prime Minister's announcement on August 15, new GST rates were implemented within a month. Now, Haryana has only two GST slabs — 5% and 18%. This simplification will directly benefit consumers. With every transaction recorded online, tax evasion has been reduced, and more small businesses have joined the formal economy," Singh added.
Bhupindra Singh, COO of Rise Infraventures, discussed Gurgaon's vital role in Haryana's GST collection. "Gurgaon contributes nearly 25% of Haryana's GST revenue. This is a result of Gurgaon's strong economic growth. The city attracts businesses and residents through its expanding IT and ITeS sectors, growing corporate hubs, and high demand for premium housing," he said.
He added that Gurgaon is not only a major contributor to Haryana's GST revenue but also a key driver of long-term economic value. Gurgaon's growth reflects its position as a business hub attracting investments, generating jobs, and boosting Haryana's economy.
Haryana's rise in GST revenue shows how focused reforms, improved compliance, and industrial growth are shaping its economy. Strong performance in GST collection is a sign of progress and economic stability.
Gurgaon's contribution is especially important. Known as a modern economic hub, Gurgaon continues to grow through investments in IT, infrastructure, and real estate. These developments strengthen Haryana's position in the national GST revenue ranking.
With continuous reforms and economic growth, Haryana is likely to keep its position among the top GST-collecting states. Gurgaon's economic development will continue to be a key factor driving the state's GST growth and overall prosperity.
